Fall Equinox Intention Setting

September 25, 2018 Jennifer Neilson

Fall is a time for us to start slowing down. A time to reflect on the abundance we have in our lives, celebrate it and turn inward for reflection on what we can let go of in order to move into what we want for ourselves.

This ceremony is best done on the equinox as the light and dark are equal as is time for us to both reflect and look forward. BUT you can do this at any time in the season.

What you'll need:

  • Pen and paper

  • Fire if at all possible. Fire pit works best, but you can also burn in a bowl and once out cover in water.

  • A bit of time for reflection in a comfortable place.

Many fall festival and fairs are about celebrating harvest. Celebrating the abundance the crops that have been harvested and be thankful for everything we do have. So come to a comfortable place for a meditation. Spend a few moments/minutes reviewing:

  • What abundances do you have in your life you are thankful for?

  • What amazing things have you had happen to you in in the last 3 months, 6 months and year?

  • What or who do you have in your life that make you feel loved/cared for?

You are welcome to write down some of these answers. Then finishing with the reflections of:

  • What do you wish for yourself? It might be the next 3 months until Winter Solstice, or all the way until next Fall Equinox.

  • TIP: Try and keep this limited to one or two things. If we ask to much of ourselves at one time our focus gets a bit lost. Really think about what you want.

Lastly have two separate pieces of paper.

  • Write down what it is you want to let go of in your life. Think about what feels as if it't holding you down or pulling you back.

  • Write down on the second piece of paper what it is that you want.

  1. Take the piece of paper with the thing you no longer want in your life and toss it into the fire.

  2. Take the piece of paper with what you would like and you can either, keep it in your wallet, tuck it in a book, bury it in the ground, or just keep it somewhere.
